Houston Massage School: How to become a Massage Therapist in 5 Steps

Step 1: Decide if Massage Therapy is Right for You

Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing health care professions — no surprise in a world where most things are becoming more and more fast-paced. Massage therapists help clients relax, relieve stress, and reconnect with their body. At a Houston massage school, you receive massage therapy training that equips you to help others through the power of touch.

Massage therapy training mightbe right for you if you answer yes to these questions: Would you like the flexibility to work part-time or full-time? Would you like to be your own boss? Would you like to earn between $50-75 an hour?

If you’d like to learn more, the Houston School of Massage offers “Massage as a Career” seminars. Attend the next seminar and before you know it, you could be in massage therapy training at a phenomenal Houston massage school.

Step 2: Find a Houston Massage School that is Right for You

Research your options in massage therapy training. You want a Houston massage school that provides you with an in-depth understanding of the latest massage therapy techniques — and is dedicated to helping you create your own success once you complete your training.

Houston School of Massage offers hands-on massage therapy training with great instructors, while also focusing on business skills to help you build your future. Continuing education is also an important part of your ongoing career as a massage therapist — HSM offers massage CEU in Houston.

Step 3: Train to Become a Massage Therapist

With Houston massage school training you can complete an Associate Massage Training Program (AMTP) in approximately eight months (500 hours) at HSM. After the successful completion of 250 hours of massage therapy training, a supervised internship program allows students to have hands-on experience providing massage therapy to the public at the Houston massage school.

Step 4: Become a Licensed Massage Therapist

Your Houston school of massage therapy will assist you in understanding the licensing requirements in the state of Texas and provide assistance in obtaining your license. The Texas Department of State Health Services administers exams to license massage therapists. HSM provides you with your AMTP transcripts as proof of completion of your massage therapy training.

Step 5: Start Your Rewarding Career as a Massage Therapist

Once you complete your Houston massage school training and successfully complete your licensing requirements; your massage therapy career can take any path you choose. You may choose to work full or part-time; working in a health clinic, a spa, cruise ship, private office or other location. The opportunities are limitless.

This unique flexibility allows you earn as much as you want, in as much time as you want, in the environment you desire. As an example: if you own your own business and are working full-time with between 4 and 6 clients a day you could earn between $1,000-5,000 per week; working for someone else you could earn between $30,000-50,000 per year immediately after finishing your massage therapy training at a Houston massage school.

Continuing Your Education with Massage CEU in Houston

Continuing Education ensures you keep up your licensing requirements with the state of Texas and also build your skill-set as a massage therapist. HSM offers a variety of massage CEU options.
